Nuway House, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving men and women recovering from alcoholism and addiction.

Nuway House provides halfway house and sober house programs for men recovering from alcoholism and addiction. Our 3R's Counseling Center provides outpatient treatment, chemical-dependency evaluations, relapse groups, aftercare and DWI classes for men and women. Since our inception in 1966, we have helped over 10,000 individuals start a new life. Many of our alumni are successful members of the Twin Cities community. Our programs provide an environment that sustains the individual desire for an alcohol- and drug-free lifestyle.

Halfway House Program

Program emphasis is on sustaining the desire for a sober lifestyle, resolving personal issues, establishing a support network in the community, employment, education, financial responsibility, social network, family/significant other relationships, physical health and positive use of leisure time.
Counseling is provided by a staff of 5 Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors with over 70 years of experience combined. Other staff members include the Executive Director, Program Systems Manager, Intake Coordinator, Data Clerk, Sober House Manager, House Managers (4) and Cooks (4).

Length of Stay
* Our designed program length is 75 - 90 days
* Longer stays are possible with staff approval and funding

Licensure
* Nuway House is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services
* We also hold applicable City of Minneapolis licenses

Location / Capacity
* Two halfway houses with a total capacity of 60 beds
* Both houses are on First Avenue South in Minneapolis
* We are located within walking distance of the downtown area, public transportation, shopping, business district, restaurants, coffee houses, and over 40 community self-help support groups

Food Service
* We employ 4 Full-time Cooks
* 3 delicious and wholesome meals are served daily at both houses
* The menu is monitored by a Registered Dietician to ensure all food groups are included
* We put on holiday cook-outs for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day

Linens & Laundry
* Bed linens are furnished and professionally cleaned
* Residents must provide their own towels
* Coin-operated washers and dryers are located at both houses

Recreation
* Nuway House is located within walking distance of several beautiful lakes and parks
* We are also within walking distance of the stadium homes of several professional sports teams, including the NBA Minnesota Timberwolves, NFL Minnesota Vikings, baseballs' World Champion Minnesota Twins, and NHL Minnesota WILD (St. Paul).

* Located 2 blocks from Nuway is the Minneapolis Institute of Arts
* Also nearby is the Walker Art Center, Guthrie Theater, Jungle Theater, Orchestra Hall, comedy theaters, etc.
